Hype or Like Friday: Harry Potter Month

Hype or Like Friday  is a weekly event hosted on Goodreads here.  Each month the three mods Jillian, Larkin and Britt, choose a hyped up book of the month to focus on and we’re free to participate in answering awesome weekly discussion topics and writing our own review on the chosen book. This month they’ve chosen Harry Potter due to the release of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.

This week’s discussion topic (and it’s an EPIC one by the way):

Imagine it’s the apocalypse, whatever magic is left in the Wizarding World is slowly diminishing, and you need to assemble a team to help you survive. Which 5 characters would you choose for your team, what roles would they play (i.e. Team Leader, Most Cunning, Most Skilled, etc.), and how would they help you survive. You can do whatever you want with this topic. Get creative and have fun with it.

OMG I’M SO EXCITED BY THIS ONE. And I quite like my team haha though it might seem a bit strange!!

 

Hermione Granger aka THE BRAIN 

It’s a no-brainer really that I would need Hermione on my team in an apocalypse. She’s extremely clever, a fast-thinker/problem-solver. She knows a lot of spells and is able to use magic effectively, not just for fighting bad guys, but also for practical uses, such as food and shelter and other useful objects (that she keeps in that beaded handbag of hers, of course). If we couldn’t use magic, she’d be able to think of ways we could survive in the Muggle way. She would be able to help with keeping us alive in that she would be able to provide us with the smarts we’d need for survival and keep us thinking clearly in a world of chaos. She has the brain power and determination that the others, including myself, don’t have. I just couldn’t not have her on the team.

 

Severus Snape aka THE CUNNING 

Perhaps this might seem a bit of an odd choice, but come on, Snape is a great wizard. He’s extremely loyal and brave. He also knows a lot about dark magic and is very good at tricking people and achieving things through these evasive methods. He’d be irreplaceable as a part of your team because with him you’re stronger against darker forces or people that you can’t trust. He’s very good with magic and potions, which I think would be very useful even in a world where magic is diminishing.

 

Ron Weasley aka  THE HEART 

I think any community of people during an apocalypse needs somebody who sees the brighter sides of things and is able to make you laugh. I think it’s important to have someone like Ron, who would show you a little light in the darkness. I know Ron’s not perfect at magic and such things, but like all Gryffindors, he’s incredibly brave and loyal. He’s actually more intelligent than some people remember  (hello, he’s a wiz at chess) and is able to think strategically and often remain strong under pressure. Like in Harry Potter, Ron is the glue and would lead the rest of the group through the dark, apocalyptic times with heart and humour alongside his street smarts and pragmatic personality.

 

Rubeus Hagrid aka THE STRONG 

Who wouldn’t want a half-giant on your team? Hagrid is a big marshmellow on the inside, sure, but he’s also extremely strong, and his strength would be a great asset to the team. And I don’t mean just for the the strength required to carry large tree trunks for a building a shelter, but also in mind and spirit. Remember when Hagrid went on that massive trip to find the giants? Well, he got through that and was super tough. I just think he’d be such a massive help. And also intimidating for any foes that come along :P. Also, so long as magic is still working, I’m sure his motorbike would come in handy.

 

Harry Potter THE LEADER 

Alright, so I wasn’t sure first of all if I’d have Harry Potter in my team at all. But then I decided that his leadership is so important and I do think he would be a vital member of the team. He’s very conscientious, he’s a fighter and he shows a great humility. I think, alongside the help of his loyal friends, Harry is able to lead through the darkest of times and would keep us going by giving us goals and a meaning for living and continuing to survive.

I also think spending a lot of time with The Trio altogether, not to mention Hagrid and Snape, would be pretty damn awesome :P.
