Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly event hosted by the Broke and the Bookish.
This Week’s Topic: All About Romance Tropes/Types — top ten favourite hate-to-love romances (from books or movies or tv), top ten favourite (or least favourite) instalove romances, favourite slow-burn romances, favourite starcrossed lovers, etc. etc. Can go so many ways with this one).
For this week’s Valentine’s Day topic I’m going pretty broad by just choosing favourite novels of mine that are also my favourite love stories :). This was really hard! As you probably all know, I’m a sucker for well-written and well-plotted romance, especially in the YA category. There are so many to choose from…but I finally came up with this list, which has stories of first loves, tragic loves, forever loves and all of which are favourite fictional couples of mine 🙂
I’ll Give You The Sun by Jandy Nelson
The love stories in this novel are perfect. I adore them!!
Chaos Walking by Patrick Ness
While this series is not merely a love story in any sense, Todd and Viola’s growing relationship is definitely one of my favourites :).
Harry Potter by J.K Rowling
Nothing much beats love stories like Ron & Hermione’s or the love Snape has for Lily. Amazing!
Anna and the French Kiss and Sequels
Anna, Lola and Isla’s stories are the perfect example of teenage love stories in my opinion :).
Attachments by Rainbow Rowell
I found this book so thrilling and was so rapt by the ending 🙂
The Tomorrow Series & The Ellie Chronicles by John Marsden
Again with this book romance isn’t the central theme, but Ellie’s relationship with Lee is so perfect and always made me giddy.
Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte
Can’t beat a classic like this one, although I still don’t know if I quite like the ending!
The Tenant of Wildfell Hall by Anne Bronte
The story and plot in this novel blows my mind. Super thrilling!
Tess of the D’Urbervilles by Thomas Hardy
One of the most tragic love stories I have ever read. The mini series is wonderful, too!
Persuasion by Jane Austen
You’d probably more expect me to mention an Austen’s classic Pride & Prejudice, which I love still but I prefer Persuasion because I didn’t study and re-read it so religiously in school.
There’s some of my favourite romance stories! Do you like any of these? What are your favourites? 🙂
