Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly event hosted by the Broke and the Bookish. This weeks topic is a REWIND, meaning that we can chose any previous topic we haven’t done before :). I choose Book Covers I’d Frame as Pieces of Art On My Wall, which I’m very excited about.
I know the saying is not to judge a book by its cover, but I’m not going to lie, beautiful book covers do very often peak my interest in a book. I can usually tell if I’d like the content of a book based on its cover. It’s just a thing, isn’t it? Anyway. I have chosen the following book covers because if they weren’t books, I’d be all ‘oh that’s a lovely print’ (but incidentally most I also either love as books or have added them to my tbr).
So here are the book covers I’d happily have each of these on my wall as pieces of art any day :).
1).
I said just the other day that I would take any excuse to blog about Watership Down, and here’s another chance haha! I love this cover, it’s so beautiful. I love the detail on the rabbit, I love rabbits, I love the trees and the way the grass is moving in the painting. It’s so dreamlike and gorgeous, I’d just love to have this on my wall.
2).
Sarah Benwell’s The Last Leaves Falling is a beautiful, sad book and this cover is perfect for it. I am a massive lover of Japanese Woodblock style art (actually have a lot of those kinds of prints in my home already) so I adore the style of this cover. The cranes and the feathers are particularly lovely. Shame I couldn’t find a better quality image of it to show it off more!
3).
I came across this cover by mistake really, while browsing through YA books online. This is a really interesting cover. I love the way the girl’s dark hair becomes a tree, the satellite where her brain would be and the coloured points that make up her facial features. It’s just a super cool image. And, I’ve now added this to by TBR! 🙂
4).
I’ve never read John Boyne’s Noah Barleywater Runs Away, but I certainly hope to soon! This is such a cute book cover. I love the tree and the stars hanging off it. It gives off a really nice feeling of calmness and I just think it’s so pretty :).
5).
How beautiful is this cover!! I love the contrast of the red, blue and black. It’s gorgeous. I can’t really explain it in any way other than to call it breathtaking. Also another book I’ve added to my tbr!
6).
Wink Poppy Midnight has been on my TBR for quite awhile, and one of the things that did interest me to read it first of all was, of course, this incredibly unique cover. I love how dark it is. I love all the flowers and spider webs and plants and the gorgeous owl up there in the corner. I love the text, it’s so brilliant! This would just be perfect as a poster :).
7).
Paperweight is another book that’s been sitting on my virtual TBR for ages. I love the blue colours in this cover, the delicacy of the hand and the strings with the little paper shapes. It’s so simple and pretty :).
8).
I haven’t yet actually added this book to my TRB as, to be honest, I haven’t even looked to see what the novel is about. But, I love this vintage style of books and this is just one of many that I think are beautiful and would make gorgeous posters. I love birds, so it makes quite a lot of sense that I would love this cover heh :).
9).
More birds! And tree branches! Hehe. Oh, I love it. This is a beautiful cover, really stunning. I love the different colours of all the birds and how they and the branches are framing the text in the middle. It’s just lovely :).
10).
Anne Bronte’s The Tenant of Wildfell Hall is probably my favourite 19th Century novel and I adore this new cover from Penguin Vintage Classics. I love the style of the text, the black and white theme and the flowers. It’s just a lovely, lovely cover and I’d love to have a set of these on my walls – not to mention the copies of the books themselves! You can also get Jane Eyre, Wuthering Heights and a bunch of others in a similar edition :).
I should also add that I’d have any Harry Potter book cover as a piece of art on my wall, but I didn’t chose those as I thought that was kind of a given 😛
Do you have any book covers you’d love as pieces of art on your wall?
The Forsaken cover is AMAZING! I would also love to hang it on my wall! I need to check this book out! 😀

It sure is! How’d you like the book itself? 😊

It’s very lyrical, sometimes at the cost of the story. But overall, I liked it–it’s lovely, with a fairy-tale sort of feel.

Interesting! Well I’m really looking forward to reading it, glad to hear you liked it and the fairy tale/lyrical aspect of it I hope I’ll like as I usually do that type of thing 😊 Thanks!

Excellent topic! And yes yes yes these covers are absolutely glorious and I am sure if they were wallpaper they would sell out fast! I seriously can’t even choose a favorite from your picks but if I had to choose I would go with Wink Poppy Midnight for a bathroom and Watership Down for a nursery.
I think The Sun is Also a Star, Vengeance Road, and Confess would make amazing wallpapers too 🙂
