Teaser Tuesdays – 21st October

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly meme held by Should be Reading. The idea is to open whatever book you’re reading to a random page and provide two teaser sentences, so long as they don’t spoil anything!

So, I currently have a couple of books on the go, but thought for this week I’d chose the one I’ve been reading for a couple months and still haven’t finished (I’m a bit slow and haven’t been reading it lately. But don’t be put off! It’s a great book. I’ve just had a lot going on).

The book: Robin Hobb’s Assassin’s Apprentice (first of the Farseer Trilogy).

In a faraway land where members of the royal family are named for the virtues they embody, one young boy will become a walking enigma.
Born on the wrong side of the sheets, Fitz, son of Chivalry Farseer, is a royal bastard, cast out into the world, friendless and lonely. Only his magical link with animals – the old art known as the Wit – gives him solace and companionship. But the Wit, if used too often, is a perilous magic, and one abhorred by the nobility.
So when Fitz is finally adopted into the royal household, he must give up his old ways and embrace a new life of weaponry, scribing, courtly manners; and how to kill a man secretly, as he trains to become a royal assassin

The teaser:

“Despite the King’s promises, I stuffed my jerkin front with sweet cakes. The pups and I shared them all in the shade behind the stables.”

Have a good week everyone 🙂

    1. Thanks :). Well, I’ve only read 150 pages of it so far, but I am really enjoying it. I especially like Fitz, he’s a great character and I’m really interested in finding out what happens to him. I’ve never read a novel like it before, really, so it’s been great. What did you think of it? Thanks for the comment! 🙂
